Appetizer Recipes

Last Minute Fig Dip (that really takes less than a minute!!)

I find myself being noted as the “appetizer queen” amongst my family and friends and am always asked to bring an appetizer to the party. I was hosting a party last summer and at the last minute, as I am sure we all do….. we find ourselves wondering if there is enough food for everyone. On a whim and bit of a panic I took a block of cream cheese out and liberally spread some fig preserve over the whole block of cream cheese. Served it on a platter with assorted crackers. Everyone kept coming up to me and asking me about this dip, I literally was chuckling to my self as it was such a last ditch effort to provide more food. I use cream cheese as it seems to be more of a party pleaser but honestly my favorite way to serve it is on goat cheese. I sometimes shy away from goat cheese as you either love it or hate it. I have also topped it with crumbled bacon (I put this last because if you chose this method unfortunately I can’t guarantee less than a minute, but if your willing to fry up some bacon…..it’s way worth the time!

Ingredients

  • 1 block of cream cheese
  • 1/3 cup of fig preserve (if you can’t find fig preserves you can substitute it with apricot preserves as well)
  • Bacon bits (optional)
